The Goonies 2!!! [2.11.06 - 12.15am]
A sequel to The Goonies (1985) is in preproduction and will be shot in Oregon, the same site as the original. Working title is Goonies Never Say Die. It will star all the original cast members!! That's so exciting! It's like one of my all-time favorite movies!!

The white man said, "Colored people are not allowed here."

The black man turned around and stood up. He then said:
"Listen sir....when I was born I was BLACK,"
"When I grew up I was BLACK,"
"When I'm sick I'm BLACK,"
"When I go in the sun I'm BLACK,"
"When I'm cold I'm BLACK,"
"When I die I'll be BLACK."
"But you sir."
"When you're born you're pink,"
"When you grow up you're white,"
"When you're sick, you're green,"
"When you go in the sun you turn red,"
"When you're cold you turn blue,"
"And when you die you turn purple."
"And you have the nerve to call me colored?"

The black man then sat back down and the white man walked away...

Tsunami v. USA
As the death toll from the tsunami approaches the 100,000 milestone, I think it's important for us to remember that 140,000 Japanese died in Hiroshima. That does not include the additional 70,000 that died in Nagasaki.

Mother nature may have killed a lot of people in the past few days but there is no better killing machine than the United States military.

I'd also like to take a moment to note that thus far, the United States has pledged $35M of quake relief aid.

Compare this to the cost of the war in Iraq: $167.5B. That is nearly 5,000x more. It's not surprising that our government finds (5,000x) more value in killing than we do in saving.

That is all.

[11.4.04 - 10.40am]
Europe looked to this election to settle a deeper question: whether America itself had become an alien planet, one with values and perceptions so different from Europe's that the great postwar Atlantic alliance might never be repaired. By re-electing the President, even by such a slim margin, America has provided what many Europeans will take as definitive proof that the U.S. really is an incomprehensible place — and that the chasms and fights of the past several years are likely to continue. The President's win "erodes the view that one must distinguish between the disliked Bush Administration and the American society we've always loved," says André Kaspi, director of the Sorbonne's North American History Center.

DIVIDED WE STAND. [11.3.04 - 6.29pm]
[ mood | scared ]

I hate ignorant people....I hate it even more when they are my friends.

Dont tell me not to be angry about the claimed election results. Theyre way too fishy.
18 million newly registered voters b/t the ages of 18 and 35.....
But less than 1 in 10 voters was in that age range. No way in hell is that the truth. For instance at the Summit Parkway precinct, half of the provisional ballots that were cast were for that age range - people whose names just happened to not be in the booklet - despite the fact that they had voter rgistration cards.

`it could be a lot worse`............. HOW EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!

AND half the country does not like bush.......58 million is hundreds of millions less than half the country.
Also, I havent seen any posts that say `I hate America` or anything close to it....I do HATE the state of this country, because we could be doing A LOT better. Bush failed us in his first term, and he is not going to change that in his second. `08 will not get here soon enough.

Do you hear the people....singing the song of angry men!!! )

i cried straight through kerry's speech.
i hate it so much.
i see absolutely no way that bush can be successful uniting the country he so successfully helped sharply divide.

AND WHERE WERE ALL THE YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WERE SUPPOSED TO BE VOTING?!?!? LESS THAN 1 IN 10 OF THE VOTERS WERE YOUNG PEOPLE, AND KERRY WAS COUNTING ON US.

this is all such bull.

[ music | USA for Africa - We Are the World ]

"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt......If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake." ~Thomas Jefferson

There comes a time, when we heed a certain call.
When the world must come together as one.
There are people dying,
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all.

We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere, will soon make change.
We are all a part of God's great big family
And the truth you know
Love is all we need.

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true, we'll make a better day, just you and me.

Send them your heart, so they know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free.
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
And so we all must lend a helping hand.

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true, we'll make a better day, just you and me.

When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall.
Let us realize that a change can only come
When we stand together as one.

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true, we'll make a better day, just you and me.

So yesterday I sent a link from WIS to a (white) teacher-friend about a teacher at a predominately black middle school who says she left that school because she was being harassed by the students for being white. I just thought it was funny, and I had no desire to stir up a political debate with her, but this was the response I got back:

"My color will only hurt me if Kerry is elected president.
It is the democrats I fear--not job security."

How asinine!! I don't even know how to respond to it w/o making her feel stupid.

I want some Kerry/Edwards stickers...anyone have any? When I joined johnkerry.com, they sent me some for free, but this was before he picked his running mate, so they just say John Kerry.
I'm going to forget how I hate bumper stickers and put one on my car. I'm tired of seeing "W '04" and "SC: Always GOP" stickers around here.

Bush yesterday: "We probably cannot win the war against terror."
Bush today: "We can win, and we will!"
It reminds me of when Clinton was in trouble and Bush accused him of being a liar.
Then we find out about his lies about drugs. Whatever.

I attempted to watch the RNC yesterday. I almost puked after MCCain's speech. I've since realized I'm not strong enough to watch anymore of that freakshow.
